About The Way of Qi Founder ~
Dr. Christine Cannon, DAOM
Hi, I’m so glad you’re here!
For over 30 years, I’ve been practicing as a herbalist and acupuncturist with a passion for East Asian medicine. Along the way, I’ve explored everything from Chinese classical texts and cosmology to European astrology. It’s been a joy to coach and work with my clients over the years, helping them find more balance, health, and happiness in their lives. My approach blends ancient Asian philosophies with practical, down-to-earth support for your body, mind, and spirit. I especially love working in women’s health and using East Asian herbal medicine to address a wide range of health concerns.
Since 1995, I’ve also been sharing what I know by teaching East Asian herbal medicine, diagnosis and differentiation, internal medicine, gynecology, and now the classical Wu Yun Liu Qi (Five Movement and Six Qi) theory. Whether it’s in person or online, I love guiding students and practitioners at every stage, from beginners to seasoned professionals. Supporting people on their learning journeys and helping them grow is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
I’ve been licensed since 1993, completed two clinical internships in China, and earned my clinical doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) in 2015. My mission is to support and inspire students, clients, and fellow practitioners—whether in the U.S. or around the world—by sharing knowledge and building a caring community in the world of acupuncture and East Asian herbal medicine.
The Way of Qi
There is a rhythm to all living things, a pulse that moves through the seasons, through the body, through the plants that grow from the earth. The Way of Qi exists to help you find that rhythm and learn to move with it.
We believe that ancient wisdom and everyday life are not separate. The principles of Qi, the vital force that underlies all of Chinese medicine and cosmology, are as relevant now as they have ever been. When we understand how energy moves through the year, through our bodies, and through the natural world, we begin to make choices that genuinely support our wellbeing.
What we offer
The Way of Qi is a growing online space for learning and practice. Our self-paced courses explore the elemental Qi of the year, season by season and solar term by solar term, offering guidance on how to live, eat, rest, and move in alignment with nature's unfolding patterns.
Our digital downloads and recorded content support your learning, and our blog offers a living companion to the annual cycles — updated throughout the year as the Qi shifts from one period to the next. Most of what we offer is freely shared because we believe access to this content matters. More involved content, live forums and Podcasts, and discounts on all paid products and services are accessible with the annual membership.
Who this is for
You don't need a background in traditional Chinese medicine to find your way here. You need only a genuine curiosity about your health, about the natural world, about what it means to live with more ease and intention. Acupuncturists, students of herbalism, practitioners of Chinese medicine, and complete beginners are all equally welcome.
The name
Qi is often translated as life force or vital energy, but it is really something felt more than defined, the aliveness in a breath, the warmth of sunlight, the turning of the seasons. The Way of Qi is an invitation to pay attention to that aliveness, and to learn, slowly and with care, how to move with it.
